Foods That Help Prevent Acne

Blemishes, pimples black heads and the such. Acne is a skin problem that plagues mostly teenagers and young adults. That doesn't mean that it isn't a problem that can't effect us all.

We always hear things like keep away from greasy pizza and chicken. Not to drink lots of sodas and highly sweet drinks.

While people seem to know what foods to blame for causing acne, the foods that help it are very seldom spoke of.

These foods are great for helping to keep spin clear:

Nuts

Nuts are great for the skin as they provide many nutrients like iron, potassium, and magnesium as well as vitamin E and many other nutrients.

Green Vegetables

Think about things like green beans, broccoli, and your leafy foods like kale.

Whole Grains

Whole grains are high in fiber and low in sugar. Try brown and wild rice, and most breads and enriched pastas.

Fat Burning Foods

At current 37.5% of all adults in the U.S.are obese. That's more than one-third of the adult population. I'm not telling you how to live your life, but this statistic is sad.

Obesity leads to heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, as well as some types of cancer.

Unfortunately there is no foolproof one size fits all method of loosing weight. Everyone is different. Different metabolisms, different shapes and sizes.

I know that you think that eating food leads to gaining weight, however there are however foods that will help you to burn some of that body fat off by boosting your metabolism.

  • Eggs
  • Green Tea
  • Whole Grains (oatmeal, brown rice and wild rice, certain cereals)
  • Lean Meats (meats low in fat)
  • Pistachios
  • Apples
  • Berries (raspberries and blackberries)
  • Low Fat Yogurt
  • Broccoli
  • Spinach
It would be impossible to list all of the foods that help to burn fat, but this is a great start.

Try to get you a meal started using these foods for the next week and see if it makes a difference.

Foods High In Iron

Iron is a vital part of our diet, having a rich amount of it in our bodies has various benefits. Unfortunately, iron deficiency is the world's major nutritional disorder.

First, it is the easiest way to eliminate the threat of anemia. It is also very vital to helping our immune systems battle bacteria and viruses. It doesn't end there either, it also helps with the production of proteins and the transmission of nerve signals.

That being said, doctors usually recommend iron supplements as well as foods rich in iron. To increase the iron in your diet consider these foods:

Beans

Types like kidney beans, garbanzo, soybeans, and white beans are great sources of iron.

Fruits

Plenty of fruits can provide the iron you need in your diet. Try strawberries, dried peaches and apricots, watermelon, as well as raisins to boost your iron levels.

Vegetables

Vegetables are a vital part of our diets for multiple reasons, iron being one of them. Vegetables like string beans, most types of greens (kale and collared to name two) , broccoli, peas, and spinach are great for the iron in your diet.

Wheat Products

Wheat products are good for iron as well. Eat things like bread, enriched pasta, and cream of wheat.

Meats

Meats are obviously great for our bodies, although some vegetarians may disagree. Either way try eating meats like chicken, pork, lamb, turkey, and eggs.

Seafood

Seafoods can also be good sources of iron. Try fish like tuna, sardines, haddock, and mackerel. Also shellfish like oysters, shrimp, clams, and scallops.

Foods To Lower Cholesterol

High cholesterol has a lot to do with your risk factor for heart disease. Lowering and maintaining it at a healthy level is a great way to help stay healthy and live longer. You've probably seen the Cheerios commercials bragging about how they lower cholesterol.

There are 3 types of cholesterol. You have LDL, low density lipoproteins, which is your "bad" cholesterol. You also have HDL, high density lipoproteins, which is your "good" cholesterol. There is also VLDL, very low density lipoproteins, which is also considered bad, but isn't usually given in routine cholesterol tests.

After age 20 and older, you should have your cholesterol measured every few years to know your risk.

Here are foods that will help battle high cholesterol:

Oats

Foods like oatmeal and bran cereals are great for lowering cholesterol due to their high fiber concentration.

Beans

Just like the oats mentioned above, beans are also high in fiber.

Nuts

Nuts like peanuts, almonds, walnuts, and pecans. They are high in fat however, so avoid over eating them and gaining weight.

Fish

It's all about the fish high in Omega-3. Fish like tune, salmon, and sardines.

Fruits

Citrus fruits, apples, and strawberries specifically.

Whole Grains

Also high in fiber, whole grain foods like brown and wild rice are excellent choices. Some cereals even contain whole grains.

While there are more options, these are probably the easiest to incorporate into your current diet. Having a good mix of these will help keep your cholesterol at desirable levels.
